Australia Deaf held on to their Ashes crown by securing a draw in the deciding Test at Colwyn Bay CC.
The results saw the two-match series finish 0-0 after the first Test at Southport and Birkdale CC was also drawn.
Andrew Watkins was again Australia’s hero as his second century of the match removed any chance of the victory England required to regain the Ashes.
Watkins’ 162 not out came from 201 balls and included 21 fours and three sixes before Australia declared on 321 for seven.
That left the hosts 47 overs to chase an improbable 404 for victory. They finished on 148 for seven with first innings centurion Mike O’Mahony again leading the way with 47.
Nigel Davenport struck a brisk 36 from 38 balls while Paul Welch took 3-11 in seven overs for the tourists.
Australia had started the day on 64 for three, a lead of 147 runs, and their middle order all supported Watkins in his prolific knock.
Stephen George was the pick of England’s bowlers with 2-67 from 22 overs.
The sides meet again on Thursday at the same venue in a Twenty20 match which precedes a four-match ODI series.
