Introduction
The NatWest Inter Cricket Evaluation Sheets (downloadable at foot of page) are a tool to help coaches evaluate young players throughout the Awards assessment period
Number of Assessments
Three assessments should take place at regular intervals for each Award. This will allow the coach to monitor the on-going development of each young player over the duration of the coaching sessions.
Marking Categories
There are four marking categories for each of the Awards Levels. These differ according to the Awards Level and the criteria that they have.
Levels 1 & 2
Agility, Balance, Co-ordination, Participation
Level 3
Agility, Balance, Co-ordination, Technique
Levels 4 & 5
Batting, Bowling, Wicket-keeping, Fielding / Agility / Balance / Co-ordination
Marking Criteria
For each of the assessments, young players should receive a mark out of five according to their performance.
5 - Excellent
4 – Very good
3 – Good
2 – Good fundamental skills with development opportunities
1 – Sound fundamentals with development opportunities
Over the period of the three marking assessments it should either be the overall progression or the overall standard achieved by the young player that they are assessed on, not the average score over the three assessments.
The evaluation sheets are purely intended to assist coaches in the assessment of young players; the final evaluation and ultimate decision as to the level achieved by the young player is at the coaches discretion, although the evaluation sheets should aid this process.
