The winners in this category were Steve Jeffrey and Kayleigh Hodges - who received a joint award as the judges were unable to separate them!
The full nominations for the 2005 OSCAs in the Young Volunteer category are detailed below:
Steve Jeffrey (Cumbria)
A typical week for Steve could involve a 100-mile round trip to play and score for his club - Arthuret and Esk's - mid-week team, collect the score book for the second mid-week side, return to work and input the match details onto the website.
He also helps out with the U15 team on a Friday evening and the U13 side on a Sunday morning whilst playing on Saturday for the First XI. Sunday afternoon is spent collating the score books and adding other information onto the website.
Kayleigh Hodges (Berkshire)
Kayleigh has been instrumental in the development of the Street Games Cricket programme within East Reading.
She is the lead volunteer and her roles include assisting with the cricket coaching and the administration of Street Games. Kayleigh also co-coordinated a team of 15 children to take part in the Cricket Festival on July 3.
James Carr (Devon)
James works continually with both his club side, Plymouth Civil Service, and the West Devon U12 side. He led his U11 side to a league and cup double.
During the winter he coached at Plymouth College and with the demise of his previous club James has been instrumental in combining the youth sections of Mount Wise and Plymouth Civil Service which has provided a strong youth section.
Robert White (Essex)
Rob captained the Upminster CC U16 team and took over the management and administration last year.
Although the team were largely inexperienced and lost all their fixtures on a regular basis, he was pivotal in keeping up their morale. He managed to instill team spirit and camaraderie which finally led to victory in their last match.
Pair: Alex Stewart and Richard Cook (Surrey)
During the 2004 season, at the age of just 18, Richard Cook and Alex Stewart undertook many activities at Chessington CC.
They were Co-managers of the U13 team which involved organising all league matches and they developed appropriate session plans and coached children of all ages and levels. They also both passed their ECB Level II awards.
The OSCAs take place at Lord's in the Nursery Pavilion on Monday October 3
