Paul Wooster won the 2006 Osca in the Another Way category - the full list of nominees was as follows:
David Perrin
David, President of Shepherds Bush CC, single-handedly saved the club from going out of existence after its ground since 1882 was sold by their landlord in 2003. He first found an alternative site, and with the help of Virgin Active and Ealing Council developed a new cricket ground in west London.
After matches began in 2004, he then ran a successful £300,000 fundraising campaign and obtained planning approval for a new pavilion opened early in 2006. He gave up full-time employment in 2005 to concentrate his efforts and spent every day as on-site project manager during the building process.
His drive and enthusiasm throughout, despite many setbacks, was critical in maintaining the club's belief in a successful outcome. The club is now in a healthy position with an excellent playing area housing a fine pavilion with a growing colts section; it provides many other community activities as part of the business development plan also produced by David.
Colin Samuels
Following the burning down of Caterham CC’s pavilion, Colin has forged a partnership with a local rugby club, in order for the club to move to a private ground. Despite not having a clubhouse the club has expanded to four Saturday teams, the top three of which have all been promoted in the last two seasons.
Joining in national schemes such as NatWest CricketForce and seeking funding from third parties for the new square and practice facilities, Colin has led the club from strength to strength.
Colin has ensured that during the hardest time in the club's history, they have become the largest club in the area, with senior and junior playing success and unrivalled community status.
Paul Wooster
A volunteer coach for the U11s at Woodhall Spa CC, Paul has been a central figure in the junior coaching set up at the Lincs club for many seasons. He never misses a coaching session, he arrives early and is always the last to leave. Paul will talk to any young person about cricket - cricket is a way of life for this likeable guy.
He has set up a system of two nights training and a match per week for the junior team. The idea is to give the young players every opportunity to access cricket on different nights during the week, without it impacting on their other activities.
Paul is fair and understands kids (he has three of his own) and he instinctively knows when to have a quiet word about technique or to use laughter as a way of getting the right response from the lads.
