William Murphy won the 2006 Osca in the Young Volunteer category - the full list of nominees was as follows:
Carl Holding
A player/junior coach, Carl warrants recognition for what he does at Dafen CC in Wales. He has a full-time job but plays for the 1st XI and is captain of the midweek team which takes some organising trying to get players.
He trains the juniors from 9-16 every night of the week, plus his own practice for games on the weekend and is a credit to his club even at his tender age of 18.
William Murphy
Assistant coach and general volunteer at Upminster CC in Essex, Will has been an integral part of the club since joining as a Colt over 10 years ago. He has progressed and developed into a second team player and is captain of the Sunday 3rds.
He is always available to help coach any age group among the large colts section, currently 150 members. Will is a willing volunteer to help in any aspect of club life. This may be wicket maintenance, setting up the pitch for match days, organising training sessions, bar work on club nights, and he still manages to find time to coach throughout the week while being at University.
Holly Richardson
Pool in Wharfdale CC Men’s and Women’s, Wakefield Ladies, Yorkshire, a junior coach to district level, Holly has worked hard through the winter not only on her own game (she’s in the North of England Squad), she has taken time out to attain her level one coaching qualification to become a junior coach for the West Yorkshire Women and Girls Cricket Association.
She has helped and developed her skills by assisting with the coaching of 45 girls (aged 5-12) Monday evenings, September to April in an indoor centre; she has a patience that would test a saint. She has helped train and selected a District squad with the maturity of someone much older than herself.
In the summer she never misses training nights at her local club, she assists with the 5-7 years olds. She also helps out on match day Friday nights with the U11 girls team. She is a invaluble asset to Pool CC. Her qualification means she can soon achieve her goal of running her own junior team
