Essex test trialists
Essex include three trialists in their squad for the Second XI Championship clash with Surrey this week.
Chris Marsden, Alex Roberts and former Hampshire batsman Jono McLean are set to feature in the four-day encounter at Southend, which gets under way on Tuesday.
Former Zimbabwe all-rounder Grant Flower is also named in Essex’s 12-man squad alongside occasional first-teamers Varun Chopra, Tim Phillips and Tony Palladino.
Play starts at 11am, and admission is free for spectators.
