The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced that Neil Rider has been appointed as the England Women’s manager, taking up the position from April 1.
Rider, who is an ECB Level 3 Qualified Coach, will take over the position from Charlotte Dickenson, looking after the requirements of the team and support staff on tour.
Rider previously worked with the Women’s squad as the manager and assistant coach for two years before retiring after the 2005 World Cup to return to working at The Rose Bowl.
While at The Rose Bowl he progressed from cricket development manager to marketing manager, where he oversaw all the staging of the first ever International Twenty20 between England and Australia.
He then set up his own business, Serious Cricket, which retails cricket equipment and organises coaching and cricket tours.
On the appointment, Rider said: “I am delighted to be taking up this role and working with the squad again and am looking forward to the challenge of ensuring that they become the best in the world.”
Executive Director for Women’s Cricket, Gill McConway, said: “I’d like to welcome Neil back to the England Management team and if his past record is anything to go by, he will be a huge asset to the England mission to be number one in the world.”
