Super 4s, the competition from which the England Women’s team is selected, underwent some drastic changes during the winter.
With new names and new kit, the competition has taken on a whole new look.
The new team names centre on precious stones and the coloured kit reflects the colours of the jewels.
The Sapphires, formerly known as The V Team, is coached by Paul Shaw and captained by England opener Laura Newton.
Knight Riders will be called Diamonds and will play in yellow. They will be coached by former England manager Charlotte Dickenson, while England captain Charlotte Edwards will take over domestic duties too, skippering the team.
The Super Strikers will now go by the name of Emeralds. Duncan Martindale will continue to coach the side and Arran Brindle, the best fielder in the women’s game, takes on the captaincy.
Andrew Hobday will look after the Rubies - previously The Braves - who will be captained by spinner and former MCC player Gill Richards.
Executive director for women’s cricket, Gill McConway, said: “We go into our fifth year of Super 4s with a brand new look.
“Although the team colours will stay the same, the playing kit is more stylish and flattering.
“The Super 4s is the platform from which our selectors and coaches start discussing new rising stars to be considered for the England and Development matches against International sides this summer.
“Last summer youngsters such as Sarah Taylor and Holly Colvin from Sussex and Georgia Elwiss from Staffordshire gave the selectors an insight into the quality of young talent in England.
“I’m really looking forward to this year’s competition and witnessing that talent.”
