The England selectors have announced that Luke Wright has been added to England’s squad for the remaining two matches in the NatWest series against India.
The Sussex all-rounder, who was recently named in England’s squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa, has been called up following injuries to Ravi Bopara, Andrew Flintoff and Chris Tremlett.
Tremlett underwent an injection into his injured right foot today and will not be available for the sixth NatWest Series one-day international at the Brit Oval on Wednesday. His fitness will be reassessed ahead of the final match in the series at Lord’s on Saturday.
Ryan Sidebottom underwent fitness testing at the ECB’s national cricket performance centre at Loughborough today (Monday) and has been cleared to rejoin the squad.
The injuries to Bopara (thumb) and Flintoff (ankle) will be reassessed by the England medical team at the Brit Oval tomorrow (Tuesday).
