Gloucestershire trio Alex Gidman, Steve Kirby and Chris Taylor have committed their futures to the Bristol-based club by signing contract extentions.
Vice-captain Gidman was named the county’s player of the season in 2006 for his all-round contribution including helping them to the Pro40 Division Two title.
Kirby was the team`s leading wicket-taker in the county championship last year with 49 scalps while Taylor was a consistent performer with the bat.
Gloucestershire Chief Executive, Tom Richardson, said: “I am really pleased that Alex, Chris and Steve have extended their contracts.
“We see them as being the core of the team, they are all high quality players and, as senior members of the squad they all have a huge part to play. All very positive for 2007.”
Gidman made his first team debut in 2003 and amassed 1244 runs in the championship last year. In 2005 he was selected for the England A squad to tour the UAE and Sri Lanka, claiming an impressive 3-8 versus Sri Lanka A.
“I am very happy with this and am looking forward to working with the squad to develop the team and compete for and win trophies,” he said.
Kirby, who joined from Yorkshire in 2004 and has also represented England A, added: “I am absolutely delighted to be extending my contract with the club. My family and I are really happy down here in Gloucestershire.
“With the excellent support structure we have at the club I am certain further success is inevitable in both forms of the game. This year with a bit of luck and lot of hard work I hope to fulfil my life long dream to play for my country.”
Taylor, who made his county debut in 2001, said: “I look forward to contributing to a strong Gloucestershire team and along with the other players, remain committed to bringing more success to the club and its supporters.”
