Australia paceman Michael Kasprowicz will be joining Glamorgan for the 2006 season.
The 33-year-old has penned a new deal with the Welsh county, for whom he played between 2002 and 2004.
Kasprowicz admitted he had interest from other counties, notably Middlesex, Leicestershire and Essex, but in the end said he wanted to return to Wales.
“I’m just relieved all the negotiations are done and dusted with Glamorgan and we have managed to come to an agreement,” said Kasprowicz.
“I’m more than happy to come back to Glamorgan because my family and I love Cardiff and the people there.
“There were obviously other avenues I had to explore but in the end Glamorgan is probably where we feel more comfortable.”
The Kasprowicz signing means Glamorgan will be fully armed with two overseas players for the whole of next season after Matthew Elliott was signed for 2006 at the end of the summer.
Kasprowicz was named Glamorgan’s player of the year in 2003 after bagging 77 first class wickets at an average of 21.15, boosted by a career-best 9-36 against Durham.
