Yorkshire captain Darren Gough is missing from the squad to take on Surrey in Division One of the LV County Championship at the Brit Oval.
He has picked up a few niggles in his back and legs so far this season and it has been decided to rest him to give him a chance to fully recover.
Director of cricket Martyn Moxon said: “It is important that we manage Darren's workload carefully, and although he could have played at the Oval we want to have him firing for us in the three Friends Provident matches which are coming up.
"He is standing down against Surrey mainly as a precautionary measure."
Anthony McGrath takes over the reins, leading a squad which includes Rana Naved-ul-Hasan for his first game for Yorkshire.
He passed a fitness test earlier this week and
spearheads an attack which could comprise Oliver Hannon-Dalby on his first-team debut.
He comes into the squad in place of Ben Sanderson, with Moxon adding: "Ben didn’t bowl badly at Riverside, but it was felt that Oliver’s extra height may prove to be an advantage at the Oval, where there could be more bounce in the pitch.”
Richard Pyrah and David Wainwright make up the 13-man squad, following Yorkshire's loss to Durham inside three days last week.
Surrey have named an unchanged squad for the match against Yorkshire, after a tense draw with Hampshire last week.
They have included two spinners in Saqlain Mushtaq and Murtaza Hussain, with Chris Schofield out for six weeks with a thumb injury.
All eyes will be on Mark Ramprakash once again as he goes in search of his 100th hundred. He could make it a double celebration if he achieves it in this match and before any other Surrey batsmen make a hundred, as it would also be the 100th hundred for Surrey against Yorkshire.
He scored his maiden first-class century against Yorkshire at Headingley and will be hoping to come full circle when he takes them on at the Brit Oval tomorrow.
Captain Mark Butcher has also been in good form with the bat this season and is looking to continue that into the match.
