Same again for Worcestershire

Vikram Solanki

Vikram Solanki struck 270 in his last championship innings

Division Two leaders Worcestershire are set to name an unchanged side for the visit of Derbyshire to New Road in the LV County Championship.

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes has the luxury of a fully fit squad to choose from but is unlikely to make any changes to the team that thrashed Gloucestershire by an innings and 142 runs thanks in part to captain Vikram Solanki’s 270.

Seamer Gareth Andrew is again on standby should any of Worcestershire’s attack, which includes paceman Simon Jones, need replacing.

Derbyshire captain Rikki Clarke is again a doubt with a side strain that is preventing the all-rounder from bowling.

Clarke has missed the last two championship matches but could be recalled as a specialist batsman following a couple of useful contributions in the NatWest Pro40.

On-loan Leicestershire wicketkeeper Tom New is set to fill in for regular gloveman Jamie Pipe who suffered a broken finger against Northamptonshire last week.

Seamer Tom Lungley is still sidelined by a knee injury but all-rounder Jonathan Clare is available despite needing 11 stitches in a head wound against Surrey in the NatWest Pro40 on Sunday.
