Graeme Hick should be available for Worcestershire for their LV County Championship match against Warwickshire after sitting out the NatWest Pro40 win over Gloucestershire with an elbow injury.
It is hopeful that Hick will not need an operation on the elbow which has been giving him problems for much of the season.
Steve Davies and Vikram Solanki will be looking to continue the blistering form they have both shown with the bat in the one-day arena over the past week.
Ben Smith was also in excellent touch in Worcestershire’s last championship game, against Essex, in which Daryl Mitchell also scored 102.
However, Worcestershire's seam attack is severely stretched with both Simon Jones and Kabir Ali still missing due to their ongoing injuries.
Warwickshire will hope to gain on Worcestershire at the top of the Division Two table with a much-needed victory against their title rivals.
Last week’s championship draw against Derbyshire means that Warwickshire have still not won at Edgbaston since April 2007, when they beat eventual champions Sussex.
They go into the clash without Lee Daggett who has been loaned to Leicestershire and James Anyon who injured his ankle in the second XI game against Leicestershire last week.
Ant Botha’s hip remains a cause of concern, but he is included in the squad, while Neil Carter could replace either Botha, Rankin or Chris Martin. Chris Woakes and the resurgent Ian Salisbury make up the attack.
Jonathan Trott will hope to continue where he left off in making 181 against Derbyshire last week, while Tony Frost is set to keep his place in the side as a specialist batsman.
