A belligerent knock from Graeme Hick strengthened Worcestershire's lead at the top of the NatWest Pro40 table as Nottinghamshire were beaten by nine runs at Trent Bridge.
The 41-year-old hit an unbeaten 93 off 81 balls with three sixes and nine fours as the visitors posted 225 for five off their 40 overs, with Phil Jaques and Ben Smith both contributing 40.
Seamers Doug Bollinger and Kabir Ali then combined to rip through the Outlaws' top-order and leave them 46 for five after 13 overs.
David Hussey gave the hosts hope with 75 off 80 balls, while Chris Read made 59 - but the task eventually proved too much as Ali finished with 5-46.
Nottinghamshire needed 18 off the final over but Gareth Clough and AJ Harris could not find the boundaries needed.
In Division Two, Somerset recorded their first win of the season in beating Derbyshire by 32 runs at Taunton.
Justin Langer (59), Marcus Trescothick (56) and James Hildreth (48) led the way as the hosts reached 251 for eight from 40 overs.
Left-arm seamer Charl Willoughby took the first three Derbyshire wickets to fall and they could only manage 219 - despite the efforts of Michael Dighton (55), Jake Needham (42) and captain Simon Katich (34).
Half-centuries from Eoin Morgan, Jamie Dalrymple and Owais Shah saw Middlesex Crusaders beat local rivals Surrey Brown Caps by six wickets at Lord's.
Morgan scored 96 from 92 balls, including three sixes and eight fours, before he was dismissed with the Crusaders needing 11 runs after he and Dalrymple had shared a stand of 129 in 18 overs.
Dalrymple finished unbeaten on 54 as the Crusaders won with 10 balls to spare to record their second win and leave Surrey pointless after two games in the competition.
Surrey's top eight batsmen all reached double figures but only Mark Butcher (50) made a half-century as they totalled 238 for eight.
