Derbyshire captain Chris Rogers has challenged his players to raise their game in front of the television cameras tomorrow.
The Phantoms head into the NatWest Pro40 Division Two clash with Yorkshire Carnegie having lost three of their opening four games.
Derbyshire's most recent defeat came at the hands of Kent Spitfires last week, when they were bowled out for a paltry 60 inside 23 overs.
And Rogers, appointed skipper for the remainder of the season following Rikki Clarke’s decision to stand down last month, is keen to bounce back under the Derby floodlights.
“Monday’s performance was a massive disappointment for everyone and it is good that we have another match a few days later in which to put it right,” he said.
“Wanting to set the record straight gives us an extra incentive to do well against Yorkshire and the lads are all determined to put in a good performance and get the right result.
“Winning against Yorkshire means a lot to Derbyshire supporters, so it would be great to get the two points for them as well as putting on a good show for the Sky cameras.”
Though Rogers is well aware of the threat posed by a talented Yorkshire side, he insists Derbyshire can take heart from their displays in the Friends Provident Trophy earlier this summer.
“We are not forgetting the fact that we have played some good one-day cricket this year,” he said.
“We just need to find the level of performance that saw us beat the likes of Durham, Lancashire and Northamptonshire earlier in the season more consistently.
“Yorkshire are a dangerous side with international players right through the team so it will be a tough match, but we all believe we can win.
“They have beaten us in limited-overs cricket twice already this season, but we enjoyed a great win at Headingley Carnegie in the Twenty20 Cup and we had them in trouble at 59 for four before rain spoiled things at the County Ground back in May.
“That suggests that the two sides are quite evenly matches in one-day cricket so it should be a real battle and an entertaining game for the spectators.”
Tickets are priced £14 for adults and £7 for juniors for the game, which gets under way at 4.10pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
Gates open at 2pm and fans are advised to arrive early to enjoy free face painting, joker entertainment, stilt walkers, a penalty shoot-out competition and a skittle alley.
