Notts get Abacus backing

Nottinghamshire Outlaws have agreed a two-year deal with Abacus Lighting to act as their new shirt sponsors for the Friends Provident Trophy and NatWest Pro40.

The Sutton-in-Ashfield company has 50 years of expertise in sports lighting and long-standing links with Trent Bridge, the latest of which are the six distinctive new permanent floodlights in place as part of the winter’s £8.2million redevelopment work.

Abacus UK sales director Paul Wilson said: “As a company we have always been very supportive of Nottinghamshire sport. We actually owned Mansfield Town at one stage and were involved in Notts County's stadium redevelopment a few years ago.

“We also currently sponsor the Central Midlands League, which is one of the feeder competitions to the Football League, and try to maintain an active involvement.

“The same will apply at Trent Bridge. We are delighted to be the new shirt sponsors for Notts Outlaws and although it is easy to say that we are giving something back, we are genuinely keen to develop the relationship with the cricket club.”

Nottinghamshire chief executive Derek Brewer said: “Our partnership with Abacus worked very well throughout the project to install permanent floodlights and we are delighted they have now agreed to take it to the next level as shirt sponsors for the Notts Outlaws.

“The distinctive lights have drawn a lot of positive comment and we have been very impressed with Abacus as a company.

“Their handiwork will be seen across the world over the next couple of years and we look forward to working closely with them as sponsors over that period - and hopefully for many years after that.”
