Off-spinner Ollie Rayner has signed a new two-year contract with Sussex.
Twenty-two-year-old Rayner enjoyed a breakthrough summer in 2008, thanks in part to the extra opportunities created by the injury-enforced retirement of master leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed.
Rayner took 31 wickets in LV County Championship Division One and was recently named in the 15-man England Performance Squad to tour India in November and December.
Sussex’s professional cricket manager Mark Robinson said: “We’re delighted that Ollie has agreed to see his immediate future with us after such a promising season.
“Ollie’s one of our own and now has the opportunity to further cement his place in the team.”
