England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will begin his comeback from injury by playing for Lancashire second XI against their Durham counterparts.
The 30-year-old has not played any cricket since his suffering a side strain playing against Durham at Chester-le-Street in the LV County Championship in early May.
Flintoff was tipped to feature for the England side in the npower Test series against New Zealand had he been fit after an encouraging start to the domestic season in which he took ten wickets at an average of 16 in Division One.
He will be joined at Alderley Edge by veteran Glen Chapple, who is on his way back from a groin injury.
Lancashire have yet to reveal whether either Flintoff or Chapple will bowl in the three-day encounter.
