Surrey have announced plans to extend their development of the Brit Oval.
The county have joined forces with the Arora International Hotel Group in a move that will see see extensive improvements carried out at the Pavilion end of the ground.
The Surrey Tavern will be demolished as part of the plans, while a new integrated stand and four-star hotel will be built.
The existing Lock and Laker stands will be replaced, with the new development holding an extra 2,000 seats.
Paul Sheldon, chief executive of Surrey, believes the latest work would help maintain the Brit Oval’s reputation as one of the finest cricket venues in the world.
He said: “There is intense pressure on all grounds that host international cricket to provide high quality facilities for both members and visitors.
“It is therefore vital that the Brit Oval continues to strive to produce the best viewing and spectator facilities of any cricket stadium in the world.”
Sheldon also confirmed that the county are in discussion with the Lambeth council and their landlord, the Duchy of Cornwall, over the proposals.
