Derbyshire have signed batsman Phil Weston from Gloucestershire.
The 33-year-old left-hander has signed a two-year contract after four seasons with Gloucestershire, having begun his career at Worcestershire.
He made 911 runs in the Liverpool Victoria County Championship for Gloucestershire in 2006, and was a vital part of their one-day squad.
Weston said: “Derbyshire have made great strides in the last couple of years and are a team with very exciting times ahead of them.
“The prospect of joining a club with a squad containing so much young talent, with such a good set-up and so much ambition were the deciding factors for me.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Gloucestershire and it was a hard decision to leave, but by coming to Derbyshire I believe I can be part of another side that will challenge for trophies as Gloucestershire have done.”
Derbyshire director of cricket Dave Houghton added: “Phil is a hugely experienced batsman of real quality and we are delighted he is joining us.
“He is an extremely hard-working and dedicated professional and knows how to win at the top level and in pressure situations. Those qualities will benefit our squad enormously.
“The fact that he has chosen to join us ahead of several other options is a testimony to the way we are progressing and our ambition as a club.”
