Northamptonshire will be without talismanic all-rounder Lance Klusener when they travel to Swansea to play Glamorgan in LV County Championship Division Two.
The former South African international has suffered a slight muscle strain in his thigh and will not be risked ahead of the Steelbacks' Friends Provident Trophy match with Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Wantage Road on Sunday.
Klusener will be sorely missed by Northants, as he has been in inspired form with the bat in all forms of cricket this season, including 342 runs in four championship matches so far.
Seamer David Wigley is chosen ahead of Johann Louw as Klusener's replacement, in the only change to the side that drew with Leicestershire at Grace Road last week.
Niall O’Brien is expected to open the batting and keep wicket, as Northants chose not to recall the England Under-19 captain Alex Wakely, who made a century against Cardiff UCCE recently.
Alex Wharf is rested by Glamorgan after struggling against Derbyshire in his last championship outing.
Wharf was hit for 77 off 11 overs in the first innings, and bounced back with 3-57 in the second.
The former England medium-pacer has signed a one-year extension to his contract with the Welsh county, but he steps down as all-rounder Ryan Watkins comes back into a 12-man squad.
Left-arm spinner Dean Cosker could also come into contention if Glamorgan decide to supplement their spin attack of Jamie Dalrymple and Robert Croft.
This is the two counties' first championship meeting at the St Helen's Ground since May 1993, when Viv Richards' 64 enlivened a draw.
