Glamorgan have signed former Yorkshire batsman Matthew Wood on a two-year contract.
The 30 year-old Wood was amongst the first intake to the ECB Academy in 2001/02 but was released by Yorkshire at the end of the 2007 season.
Matthew Maynard, Glamorgan cricket manager said: "We are delighted that Matthew has agreed terms with us.
"Matthew is a proven performer at the top of the order, and we are very pleased to have signed a player with both that calibre and experience.
“I`m sure that Matthew will have a positive influence on our squad, and that a number of our younger players will benefit from his experience of playing for, and captaining, Yorkshire."
In his first full season 1998 Wood passed 1,000 runs and he has scored 6,840 runs in first-class cricket and has struck 16 centuries.
He recorded his career-best score of 207 against Somerset at Taunton in 2003 during a summer in which he amassed 1,423 runs in Championship matches and won the Yorkshire player-of-the-year award.
Wood was also an ever-present member of the Yorkshire side that won the County Championship in 2005.
