Jason Gillespie will play no further part in Yorkshire’s LV County Championship title bid after being called into the Australia A squad.
The pace bowler, who is currently at a training camp for contracted Australian players, was hoping to return for the latter stages of Yorkshire’s run-in.
But his inclusion in the Australia A party to tour Pakistan as a replacement for the injured Shane Harwood means he will be unavailable for county duty for the remainder of the campaign.
Gillespie, who has taken 23 wickets at an average of almost 35 in the LV County Championship, will miss the final two matches as table-topping Yorkshire chase a first title since 2001.
Harwood has been forced out by a shoulder problem sustained in training with Victoria, and Gillespie will travel to Pakistan with the rest of the squad on September 1. The tour ends on September 22.
