England have drafted fast bowler James Anderson into their ICC World Twenty20 squad as a replacement for all-rounder Ravi Bopara.

The Lancashire pace bowler, who is currently on duty in the NatWest Series against India, will fly out to South Africa on Sunday providing England receive clearance from the International Cricket Council.

Essex all-rounder Bopara suffered a minor fracture to his right thumb during the NatWest Series defeat to India at Headingley Carnegie and was ruled out for between four and six weeks.

With other injury niggles affecting the squad, there may be further changes to the party which flies to South Africa on Sunday but for now the selectors have chosen to bolster the fast bowling unit for the two-week tournament.
