Alex Wakely and Greg Smith starred with the bat for England Under-19 before rain washed out the second one-day international against New Zealand at Canterbury.
Opening the innings, Wakely scored 57 off 41 balls in an innings which included nine fours and a six.
He was more than ably supported by Smith, whose 81 was the highest score of the match and came off 90 balls, with a six and eight fours, as England got off to an impressive start.
Tom Westley and Liam Dawson also chipped in with 27 and 18 respectively in the middle order.
Wicketkeeper Ben Brown was unbeaten on 30, alongside Luke Fletcher, when the rain came after 44 overs, with the score on 239 for nine.
Nick Beard was the pick of the visiting attack with 2-37 from his 10 overs of left-arm spin.
