Nepal and Zimbabwe progress

Nepal progressed to the final of the the Plate competition at the Under-19 World Cup after squeezing past Namibia by four runs while Zimbabwe secured their place in the Plate Championship final by beating Malaysia by 44 runs.

Nepal made 143 for eight in a match reduced to 34 overs at Johor Cricket Academy as captain Paras Khadka made 44, in reply Namibia were always in the match but fell short as Khadka added to his runs with two wickets.

Nepal will now face the winner of the other semi-final between West Indies and Papua New Guinea on Wednesday, with the final on Saturday.

In the Plate Championship semi-final also reduced to 34 overs, at MPTI in Johor, Zimbabwe posted 186 for six mainly thanks to Daniel Landman’s 45 not out, Peter Moor’s 37 and 36 from Solomon Mire.

Malaysia were dismissed for 142 despite 70 from Aminudin Ramly as Edzai Jaure claimed 3-39.

On Wednesday the first Super League semi-final will take place as India face New Zealand at Kinrara Oval while England face Sri Lanka in the Super League play-off semi-final and the West Indies meet Papua New Guinea in the second semi-final of the Plate Championship.
