South Africa face a nervous wait to see if they will progress to the Super League stage of the Under-19 World Cup despite beating Papua New Guinea by seven wickets at Kinrara Oval.
The Proteas bowled Papua New Guinea out for just 125 and knocked off the runs in 14.2 overs to make sure they improved their net run-rate.
But with India playing West Indies on Friday, South Africa must hope that the boys from the Caribbean slip up otherwise their destination will be Johor and the Plate competition.
If India win at Kinrara Oval they will top Group B and South Africa will make it through to the last eight as runners-up - with England or Bangladesh awaiting either side.
England’s Group D opponents Bermuda made up for a couple of poor results with a 20-run victory over Ireland, who faltered chasing 222 at the Royal Selangor Club.
In Penang, Nepal beat Namibia by just three runs in a thrilling finish at the Malaysian University of Science ground. In a low-scoring game, Nepal made 164 batting first and Namibia fell agonisingly short.
Both sides will play in the Plate with Australia and Sri Lanka, who meet on Friday, already through to the Super League from Group D.
Malaysia were unable to repeat their Group A heroics of the previous day, when they beat Zimbabwe, as they were dismissed for 47 in 17.1 overs by a rampant New Zealand side who won by eight wickets at Johor Cricket Academy.
