South & West were crowned ECB Under-17 Regional Festival winners for the second year running after beating the Midlands by 46 runs at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough.
Batting first, the South & West made 247 for seven from their 50 overs with Hampshire’s James Vince hitting 66. He put on 85 for the second wicket with Jos Buttler (51), while James Burke struck 46 not out.
Somerset’s Jack Leach starred with the ball for the South & West with 3-11 off 10 overs as Midlands were bowled out for 201 in 48 overs. Worcestershire’s Neil Pinner made 51 and Michael Hill 40.
In the other match London & East beat the North by 34 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
London & East posted an imposing 300 for four thanks to Surrey’s Zafar Ansari (117 not out), Luke Wells (74) and Matthew Machan (50).
Middlesex’s William Jones then took 5-50 to dismiss the North for 244 in 45.1 overs despite Luke Perry’s 71.
