England were beaten by 13 runs by Bangladesh in their final group match of the Under-19 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

Glamorgan seamer James Harris finished with 5-29 and Bangladesh had slumped to 27 for six before Suhrawadi Shuvo (56 not out) and Dolar Mahmud (36) combined in an 81-run stand for the eighth wicket.

They eventually posted 149 from 42 overs and England must have fancied their chances.

James Taylor and Billy Godleman put on 35 for the first wicket before Taylor was caught by Ashiqul Islam off Rubel Hossain for 24.

Tom Westley and Daniel Redfern contributed 21 and 26 respectively but England were finally bowled out in the 48th over, just short of the target.

Both sides had already booked a place in the Super League quarter-finals and England will face India on Sunday and on the same day Bangladesh play South Africa.

On Monday Sri Lanka confront New Zealand and Pakistan face Australia.

Elsewhere on Friday, India beat West Indies by 50 runs as India captain Virat Kohli hit 100 from 74 balls as they posted 265 for five from 50 overs which was too much for West Indies.

Pakistan went through to the next stage after taking an 87-run victory over Zimbabwe at MPTI in Johor while Sri Lanka beat Australia by five wickets.

The teams will have Saturday off as a rest day in preparation for the latter stages of the competition.
