For the past few weeks the rich have got richer in the The Beechwood Motor Group Derbyshire Premier Cricket League as Ockbrook & Borrowash notched up win after win but last weekend, they were held to a winning draw by Lullington giving Spondon and Chesterfield a chance to catch up.
In second place, Spondon completed a maximum points win over Quarndon, their first in five matches but their fifth of the summer but on Sunday night the gap between them and Ockbrook was still a mighty 41 points after 13 games.
At Lullington, Ockbrook batted first scoring 238 for six thanks to a blistering century from Johnny Owen who has now accumulated 646 runs @ 58.73 in the League. Charlie Ault hit 68 while Jonathan Shales recorded 3-72 for Lullington. In reply, Lullington could only manage 186 for six in the 50 overs with Steve Dixon scoring 75 and Trevor Smith taking 4-44.
Alvaston & Boulton would have been disappointed at Raynesway with their performance over the weekend. They suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Chesterfield and dropped down two places in the League.
A & B batted first scoring 139 for eight in the 50 overs but were overwhelmed by Chesterfield who easily notched up 143-1 including an unbeaten 61 from Alan Gofton and 55 not out from Alex Hibbert to post a fourth win in five league games.
A win away to Elvaston pushed Sandiacre up two places in the League to fourth. Elvaston batted first and were all out for 194. Their innings was made up of Brett Crichton (56), Ian Hunter (56) and Rob Kettlewell (39 not out) and Ian Parkin took 4-40. In reply, Sandiacre (196-5) easily reached their target in 37.3 overs for the loss of five wickets. John Trueman scored 57, Akhil Patel 80 and Rob Attwood 32.
Ticknall got the best of a winning draw at home to Ilkeston Rutland. The home side batted first scoring 226 for six, Edward Bridgeman, in his second game for the side, scored 69 and Ryan Cowley hit 61 while Robert Green took 3-80. Ilkeston hung on for a draw scoring 215 for eight in their innings; Jan Adendorff scored 52 and Kevin Leatherday 30 while Zac Lucas took 3-37 for Ticknall
Dunstall got a 27 point win against Alfreton this weekend moving them up from ninth place to fifth in the table. Dunstall batted first scoring a manageable 211-6, Paul Shaw scored 62, Jamie Benstead added 64 and John Sadler hit 37 while Fahad Masood took 3-25. In reply, Alfreton slumped to 137 all out; Steve Stubbings scored 33 while Craig Jennings bowled brilliantly taking 6-38.
