Lockhart anchors Scotland

Douglas Lockhart compiled a diligent unbeaten century to put Scotland in a strong position after the first day of their ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Canada in Ontario.

The Scots reached stumps on 286 for three, a total built largely around Lockhart’s hard-working 126 not out.

The opener faced 270 balls and hit 12 fours, skipper Fraser Watts having fallen to Eion Katchay for 10 with only 21 on the board.

Lockhart and Qasim Sheikh put on 173 for the second wicket before the latter fell eight short of a century, stumped off Sami Faridi.

Richard Berrington made a brisk 17 before following him back to the pavilion, leaving Neil McCallum (30 not out) to accompany the watchful Lockhart until the close of play.
