There were mixed results for two of Kent's girls teams as they toured South Africa.

The under-15s enjoyed an excellent 98-run win over Boland in Stellenbosch as they kicked off their tour in style.

They then moved to Cape Town for three more matches which all resulted in victories for the tourists. Katherine Long batted consistently following her maiden hundred in the opening game, ably supported by Charlotte Pape who also took a wonderful catch to dismiss the Western Province top scorer.

There were other impressive performances, including Lucy Arman who contributed well with bat and ball and Gemma Greenwood whose hard work was rewarded with four wickets in the final match. Captain Riti Patel was the top wicket-taker with seven wickets from the four games.

Kent under-19s did not fare so well but can take heart from a number of stand-out performances from the trip which included a win over Western Province.

Captain Tammy Beaumont batted consistently well in the series while Caroline Bolton entertained in a cameo that included the only six of the tour. There was also a magical spell from Sarah Hancox who took 5 for 16 in the game that Kent won.

Kent girls and the parents worked very hard to make this tour a success and also donated several kits of cricket equipment to the sports charity kids2kids set up by Andrew Russell of Cape Africa Tours www.capeafricatours.co.za for distribution to needy young cricketers at the start of their next season.
