Women to get Australian help

The Weston-Super-Mare cricket club ladies First XI have been named as runners-up in the Travelex Sport Exchange, winning a coaching session with Brett Lee and Adam Gilchrist.

The Weston Ladies managed to generate more than 69,000 votes and in recognition of this outstanding achievement they were rewarded by the Travelex Sport Exchange with a special consolation prize.

They narrowly missed out on the top spot to the Kingston Trampoline Academy, with the final decision being made by a panel of judges, including Travelex sporting ambassadors Jonny Wilkinson, John McEnroe, Lee and Gilchrist.

Chairman and founder of Travelex, Lloyd Dorfman, said: "We would like to thank the Weston-Super-Mare Ladies First XI for their contribution to the success of the Travelex Sport Exchange.

"The judging panel was extremely impressed with the quality of their entry and the amount of support it received.

“In recognition of their efforts and to ensure they maintain their success in the women's game we look forward to inviting the Weston Ladies squad to a special coaching session with Brett Lee and Adam Gilchrist in 2008."

The Travelex Sport Exchange was inspired by the rising trend of sports athletes looking to different nations and cultures to help make them a more complete sporting talent.

Being able to experience your chosen sport in a country where it is held in the highest regard and receiving coaching from the world's best can often be more beneficial for youngsters in the long term.

Aspiring sporting specialists simply had to visit www.travelex.co.uk/sport to upload their entries, which could either be in video or text form.

In the entry they needed to describe why they were a specialist in their chosen sport and why they thought they had what it takes to represent their country in the sport they love.

The Travelex Sport Exchange was open to specialists in any sport, from football and rugby to ice skating and motorcycle racing.
